Walt Disney World Phased Reopening Begins July 11 – Here’s What You Need To Know

Just announced!!! The Walt Disney World phased reopening begins July 11- here’s what you need to know. Just moments ago plans were submitted to the Orange County Economic Task Force for the proposed plans to begin the phased reopen of Walt Disney World and here’s what you need to know.
Walt Disney World plans to begin its phased reopening on the following dates:
Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom – Saturday, July 11
EPCOT and Disney’s Hollywood Studios – Wednesday, July 15
Following the lead of the reopenings of Shanghai Disneyland which reopened to the guest on May 11, and the phased reopenings of Disney Springs, which has been welcoming guests since last week and today began the second phase with the reopenings of the Disney owned stores and restaurants, the plans were just unveiled by Jim McPhee, Senior Vice President for Park Operations for approval for the reopening of Walt Disney World beginning with the phased
reopenings of the Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom on July 11 and Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Epcot on July 15.
Walt Disney World will reopen much like Shanghai Disneyland, using a reservation system. Guests will have to secure a reservation in advance via a new system. More details on how to secure a reservation will be released in the near future.
As per today’s announcement, Disney plans on a series of soft reopenings for select audiences several days prior to the July 11 reopening with Cast previews and affinity soft-opening preview days.
Following the success of Shanghai Disneyland, Walt Disney World will follow many of the protocols that were set in place there including limiting the capacity of the number of guests, and the utilization of a reservation system, which was also implemented and very successfully used for the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland Resort.
As of now, the plan that parks will reopen at limited capacity, with gradual increases as the county progresses through reopening phases. Social distancing and face masks will be required and enforced throughout the parks, and temperature checks will be required for access to the parks.
Hand washing stations, as well as hand sanitizer, will be readily available throughout the parks. Disney is also developing “relaxation zones” for guests to break off from the main areas and take off masks in designated spots.
Increased mobile food ordering options will be available, and cashless transactions will be encouraged throughout. Character meet & greets and play areas will remain temporarily closed.
The following COVID-19 General Health and Safety Protocols have been revealed. Just as with Disney Springs, which is now fully reopened as of this morning, signage will be posted throughout the parks and attractions as well as
temperature checks, and masks requirements upon entering the parks.
