So just how does Hollywood kick off a journey to Wonderland? By closing down Hollywood Blvd. in front of the Jimmy Kimmel Theater for a live concert from the one and only P!nk as she lit up the stage with “Just Like Fire” and “White Rabbit”, both featured in Alice Through The Looking Glass. To be on a red carpet is nothing like you’ve ever experienced before.
There are fans everywhere from the rooftops to the stars themselves trying to capture the moment and it’s so surreal it’s hard to process it all and take in all that’s happening around you and before you know you are sitting in a seat in the historic El Capitan theater, listening to the iconic organist setting the stage with the music of Disney realizing that you are all there for the same reason, to travel back with Alice as she goes Through The Looking Glass to save the Mad Hatter.
In Disney’s “Alice Through the Looking Glass,” an all-new spectacular adventure featuring the unforgettable characters from Lewis Carroll’s beloved stories, Alice returns to the whimsical world of Underland and travels back in time to save the Mad Hatter.
Directed by James Bobin, who brings his own unique vision to the spectacular world Tim Burton created on screen in 2010 with “Alice in Wonderland,” the film is written by Linda Woolverton based on characters created by Lewis Carroll and produced by Joe Roth, Suzanne Todd and Jennifer Todd and Tim Burton with John G. Scotti serving as executive producer. “Alice Through the Looking Glass” reunites the all-star cast from the worldwide blockbuster phenomenon, including: Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway, Mia Wasikowska and Helena Bonham Carter along with the voices of Alan Rickman, Stephen Fry, Michael Sheen and Timothy Spall. We are also introduced to several new characters: Zanik Hightopp (Rhys Ifans), the Mad Hatter’s father and Time himself (Sacha Baron Cohen), a peculiar creature who is part human, part clock.
How do you follow up seeing the premiere of Disney’s Alice Through The Looking Glass? By heading over to the iconic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Built in 1927 and located right on the Hollywood Walk of Fame stepping inside your are immediately filled with a sense of history and wonderment and imagine you are profoundly struck with the knowledge of the stars that had walked through those very same doors before you. With the enchanting Alice Through The Looking Glass theming throughout, we were treated to extraordinary food, the chance to be made over at make-up stations with the new Urban Decay makeup line, photo stations and the chance to find ourselves from earlier in the evening via a VR experience that captured P!nk’s performance-wearing a bright pink sweater definitely helps you locate yourself quickly.
All too soon, it was time to go climb back through the looking glass and head back to reality, but not before taking with us the once in a lifetime memories of that night we just happened to walk the red carpet alongside the Hollywood elite at the world premiere of Disney’s Alice Through The Looking Glass.
Stay tuned tomorrow when we bring you our exclusive interview with Alice herself, the enchanting Mia Wasikowska.
