Nik Wallenda Walks The Plank
It wouldn’t be a PirateFest if you didn’t have someone walk the plank in grand fashion high above LEGOLAND Resort and King of the High Wire himself, Nik Wallenda, thrilled us all as in true pirate-fashion, as he strolled across the high wire
more than 60 feet in the air from inside the Theme Park to the new LEGOLAND Pirate Island Hotel to kick off the Resort’s first-ever pirate invasion using a one of a kind balancing pole designed by the LEGOLAND Master Model Builders crafted
from LEGO® bricks on Wallenda’s 28-foot balance pole. This once in a lifetime event seemed to be just another walk in the park for Team Wallenda as he walked across the high wire longer than 500 feet for the walk. This daring demonstration is the first event in a year-long celebration for the Park’s 10th birthday. From the skies to the seas, the stunts keep coming with the all-new show and event where everyone is invited to come and join them and Be 10 Too.
Brickbeard’s Watersports Stunt Show
Debuting at PirateFest Weekends was the epic new show features gravity-defying stunts, choreographed to an original score of “punk pirate” tunes and a never-before-seen, new LEGO® character. Named by LEGOLAND Florida’s social media fans and co-developed with LEGO masterminds, the cunning and fierce female pirate, “Calico Jade,” joins fan-favorite
Captain Blackbeard as he whips his crew of new recruits into shape through a series of thrilling stunts on the seas. In talking with show director Phil Raybourn the excitement of this 30 year veteran of creating and being a part of theme park shows is a show, unlike any Legoland, has done before, describing the stunts as epic. He explained to me that the show,
months in the making, all starts with great storytelling and underscored with a pirate-themed pulsating score that will make you want to clap and join in the fun. The stunt performed have been on the water rehearsing and the adventures will
see the stunt performers speeding up to 40 mph on the water, going 40 feet high with our new fly board,” he said. Including in the show is everything from wakeboard, jumps, the all-new fly board, as well as a throwback to the original Cypress Gardens Water Ski, Shows that were once a part of Lake Elosie where LEGOLAND is now situated and always
feature beautiful ballets on the water The storyline takes us as the pirates enter school and must go through a series of tests in order to earn their degree. There’s plenty of humor throughout it, with two pirates interacting with the audience and offering witty puns. Brickbeard’s Watersports Stunt Show takes place multiple times a day at Pirate’s Cove stadium. It’s just one of Legoland’s new pirate-themed offerings.
