With so many new attractions and show and Disney’s Hollywood Studios about to mark a thrilling park milestone on May 1, 2019, celebrating 30 years of bringing magical entertainment to life for Walt Disney World Resort guests isn’t it time that you visited, or went back to experience all of the new magic awaiting you?
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Celebrates 30 Years of Magic:
Disney’s Hollywood Studios will celebrate its 30th anniversary on May 1 with an anniversary ceremony and the debut of the new nighttime projection show, “Wonderful World of Animation” after the sun goes down. The new show will use state-of-the-art projection technology to take guests on a magical journey through more than 90 years of Disney animation, all beginning with Mickey himself.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy-Now Open!
We were on hand to be one of the first to check out Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy and it did not disappoint! This high-octane, first-of-its-kind show that puts guests in the middle of the “Cars” universe
Whether you are a fan of the Cars franchise or just looking for good old fashioned family fun, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy gets the entire audience pumped up for a high-octane, first-of-its-kind show that gives you the feeling that you are right in the middle of the Disney•Pixar Cars universe.
Here at Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, the fun starts from the very first moment you step into the courtyard outside the Sunset Showcase you can feel the excitement ramp up before you ever enter the Sunset Showcase.
There’s a chance to get up close and personal with Cruz Ramirez just outside the Academy, ready for a photo-op with her fans and my favorite part, DJ—the ultimate party car from Route 66 who gets everyone revved up with his incredible music mix. I defy anyone whether young, or young at heart not to dance along.
The show itself takes place inside the Sunset Showcase and encourages you to buckle up as you are greeted by Mater and all of his friends. Just the energy alone makes sure you’re pumped up and ready to race along in this high-octane, first-of-its-kind show that’ll put you in the middle of the Disney•Pixar Cars universe.
Mater welcomes aspiring race car drivers to learn what it takes to be a champion racer from the legendary Lightning McQueen.
DJ’s Ready! Set! Party Time!
One of the best parts of the experience is the immersive activities that await you in the Sunset Showcase Courtyard itself really bringing families into the action with unique and one of a kind activities outside Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy.
Here you have a chance to meet Cruz and have your photo taken with the champion racer or even better, take advantage of your Disney PhotoPass be surprised with some extra magical surprises. Get ready to dance with DJ, the ultimate party on wheels as he and his friends bring their very own music mix to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Throughout the day Lightning McQueen’s Pit Crew invite you to join them for “DJ’s Ready! Set! Race on over and buckle up for the race of your life at Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, now open in Sunset Boulevard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Disney’s Magic Kingdom
At Magic Kingdom Park, guests can continue to enjoy Mickey & Minnie’s Surprise Celebration offerings
through September 30, including the new “Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It!” Street Party, special merchandise and celebration-inspired food & beverage offerings.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Guests can celebrate the 25th anniversary of “The Lion King” at Disney’s Animal Kingdom through September 30, at the “Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party” or by snapping photos at special “Lion King”-themed photo ops throughout the park.
Guests can also top off their Lion King fun by taking in a performance of the show’s long-running “Festival of the Lion King” show. Starting this summer, the Tree of Life will awaken in the evenings with a
new story, depicting moments from Simba’s journey in a beautiful artistic style, set to evocative music inspired by the score of “The Lion King”.
Guests can enjoy everything the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival has to offer – now through June 3! New festival offerings for this year’s event include four new Outdoor Kitchens that dish up amazing food, a must-see Bo Peep topiary, and a new Play Full Garden (presented by Advent Health).
The Garden Rocks concert series has also been expanded to offer performances seven nights a week from both returning favorites and new acts like TobyMac, Steven Curtis Chapman and Colin Hay of Men at Work.
Then Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live! shows will return to the America Gardens Theatre at Epcot from June 14-August 18. Here, guests can join Star-Lord, Gamora and their alien band for an intergalactic concert sure to send guests into the cosmos.
