Next Week I’m Headed to Skywalker Ranch and Pixar Studios #StrangeMagicEvent #PixarInsideOut

I am still pinching myself feeling as though I am living in a dream but the reality is starting to set in and next week I’m actually headed to Skywalker Ranch and Pixar Studios for the  #StrangeMagicEvent  and the #PixarInsideOutEvent.

Next week I’ll be heading out on the trip of a lifetime as I join 24 other bloggers from all around the country to travel to my own backyard so to speak but instead of driving past the “Lucas Valley Rd” exit sign, I’ll be merging onto it and  heading to Skywalker Ranch-yes THE SKYWALKER RANCH to screen the new Lucasfilm and Touchtone Pictures film, Strange Magic, opening everywhere January 23.

“Strange Magic,” the new animated film from the mind of George Lucas, is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. And now here’s a look at “Strange Magic”

The last time I was at Skywalker was back in the 80’s when I was working on the movie “Howard the Duck” ( yes as in the special surprise at the end of “Guardian of the Galaxy”) so I am beside myself with anticipation knowing that I will not only be getting a special tour of Skywalker Ranch, but while I’m there, I’ll be sitting down to  interview the Director and 7 time Academy Award® winner Gary Rydstrom as well as Elijah Kelley (“Hairspray,” “Red Tails,” “Lee Daniels’ The Butler”) who voices who voices Sunny in the film.  Why it’s almost like a homecoming!

Skywalker Ranch PIxar Studios

And if this trip of a lifetime couldn’t possibly get any better, it can, it will and it does when we then travel across the Bay to Emeryville, to visit Pixar Animation Studios, home of such greats as Monster’s Inc. and Toy Story. While we’re here, we will  be treated to a special sneak peek of Pixar’s upcoming summer release Inside Out, opening nationwide June 19, 2015.

#InsideOut

From an adventurous balloon ride above the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative places. In Disney•Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind.

And the cherry on top of the sundae, a sneak peek of Pixar’s new animated short, Lava, Inspired by the isolated beauty of tropical islands and the explosive allure of ocean volcanoes, Lava is a musical love story that takes place over millions of years and that plays right before Inside Out.

Pinch me-I’m dreaming! So let’s review-a trip to Skywalker Ranch to tour the Ranch as well as interview director Gary Rydstrom and actor Elijah Kelley, a screening of “Strange Magic” and then a visit to Pixar Animation Studios for sneak peeks of “Inside Out” and “Lava”– best Christmas ever!
