The Lunar New Year Celebration has returned to Disney Calfornia Adventure Park beginning today through February 13, 2022.  Starting today, Disney is thrilled to ring in the Year of the Tiger during the Lunar New Year celebration at Disney California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort and this celebration is bigger and better than ever before.  The Lunar New Year Celebration is a  limited-time event – which runs now through Feb. 13, 2022 – is a joyous tribute to Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean cultures with a touch of Disney magic, featuring Asian-inspired food and drinks, vibrant décor, keepsake merchandise, and exciting entertainment!

Lunar New Year celebrates the celestial journey of the sun and the moon on their voyage toward another year. This special festival invites Guests to make memories with their family and friends while sharing wishes for good health, luck and prosperity throughout the year to come.

Here’s a look at some of the excitement that Guests can expect during the celebration!

 

This year, “Mulan’s Lunar New Year Procession” introduces a gorgeous new float that Mulan and Mushu arrive upon, accompanied by traditional Chinese drummers with powerful rhythms and performers bringing cultural artistry and dance to life. Decorated in red and gold to symbolize good fortune and happiness, the float features bright bunches of red firecrackers with golden tassels, and delicate red and gold lanterns that come aglow for after-sunset performances.

The Paradise Garden Bandstand presents daily live performances featuring enchanting traditional musical instruments, along with Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese folk dancers. The San Francisco-based musical group Melody of China performs a fusion of Chinese folk, classical and contemporary instrumentals.

This year’s Lunar New Year invites guests to enjoy special appearances by Disney characters at the Paradise Gardens Gazebo, where they may spot Tigger, Mulan and Mushu, Mickey and Minnie, and the Three Little Pigs – all dressed in their festive finery.

 

Raya, from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ film “Raya and the Last Dragon,” makes her official debut at the Disneyland Resort during the Lunar New Year celebration! Under a forest canopy deep in the heart of Redwood Creek Challenge Trail, Guests may encounter the heroic Raya, greeting new friends and visiting from the newly reunited lands of Kumandra.

Special Lunar New Year mementos are available for purchase while supplies last, including an adorable Mickey Mouse plush, Spirit Jersey, tees, and tumblers.

Over at Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel, Chef Goofy gives a nod to Lunar New Year by adding both spicy chicken and pork belly bao buns to the buffet, while over at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, tasty treats are plentiful on the lobby cart with Mickey Mouse-shaped, tiger-striped sugar cookies, lantern whoopie pies and assorted pretzel sticks.

To capture the energy of this holiday, Kang was inspired by scenes from traditional “minwha,” or “painting of the people,” which portray the customs and spirit of everyday life in Korea. Her expressive piece depicts celebration and hope for the coming year. 

 

Also in Downtown Disney District, pop by the colorful new shop, Lovepop, which offers two different pop-up greeting card designs, a cherry blossom tree, and an elegant red lantern, to celebrate Lunar New Year!

Southern California residents can take advantage of our latest ticket offer. Eligible Guests may experience the magic of Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park for as little as $67 per day for a limited time with the purchase of a three-day, one-park per day weekday ticket, subject to park reservation. These tickets are on sale now and can be used through May 26, 2022, and are valid on weekdays.

And don’t forget – in order to enter a theme park, Guests (ages 3 and older) will need both a valid ticket and a theme park reservation for the same day and the same park they wish to visit.
