#Switch4Good Olympics

For every person that makes the decision to make the switch to a plant-based, non-dairy lifestyle is as personal as the person telling the story and making the decision. In our home, sadly we were the champions of the junk food. Whatever was fast and easy to grab or drive-through, that became our go-to meal and sometimes that was breakfast, lunch and dinner and in between. When you’re eating like that, you make every excuse in the world as to why you wish you could eat healthier, or you wish you could make dietary changes until the excuses continue to pile up as do your food choice until suddenly one day you find yourself not feeling so good one night and even worse the second night and then suddenly you find yourself on the table in the ER suffering from your second heart attack with a few hours.  And it is in that moment, when suddenly, the excuses fade away, and you discover that changing your old diet to one that is plant-based and non-dairy is not only not quite so hard as you imagined it to be, it literally is something that is helping you to take back control of your life and your health, as well as granting you that second chance at living. For us, it wasn’t about jumping on the “fad-diet of the week train” but more about jumping on the “taking back our life train” and we haven’t looked back ever since we boarded that train and it is still full steam ahead.

Think switching to a plant-based, non-dairy diet is just for “old people” trying to prevent heart disease? Well think again but this year Olympians are coming together to help launch the #Switch4Good campaign – an initiative that uses athlete testimonials to educate consumers on the health and wellness benefits associated with switching to a non-dairy, plant-based lifestyle. The #Switch4Good campaign is an initiative led by Olympian Dotsie Bausch, with the help of fellow plant-based Olympic athletes, who have incredible stories about making the switch – for good – from dairy to a plant-based lifestyle. This first of its kind campaign that will help to educate people of the benefits of adopting this new way of looking at how and what you what you eat spotlights the stories of six Olympians who reached peak performance — even Olympic gold and world records — along with transformative health benefits by ditching dairy. Led by Oscar-winning director, Louis Psihoyos (The Cove), the goal of the #Switch4Good campaign is to educate viewers so that they can make better choices to improve their health, wellness, and performance.

Think that giving up milk and milk products will mean less energy? Well, think again because this bold new initiative features six Olympic athletes who have come together to share their story helping to dispell the myth that you don’t have to drink cow’s milk to build the strength required for Olympic greatness. Did you know that According to various reports*, 1:4 consumers reported eating less animal meat in the past 12 months and 1:3 consumers prefer plant-based milks?. Many consumers want to move away from animal products, and we hope to encourage and educate them so that they can make the best choices for their health and wellness.

During the closing ceremonies of the Olympic games, you will get to hear firsthand their stories from these Olympians who want the public to be informed about what goes in our bodies, and want to share the message that even small steps in reducing dairy intake can offer health benefits — ranging from weight loss, improved digestion, disease prevention, and increased energy. Sharing their stories of why they made the change will be Olympians:

  • Dotsie Bausch – silver medalist cyclist, 7-time U.S. National Champion, former world record holder and two-time Pan American gold medal winner
  • Rebecca Soni – former competition swimmer and breaststroke specialist who is a six-time Olympic medalist.
  • Seba Johnson – the first black woman to ski at the Olympics and the youngest in her sport
  • Kendrick Farris – three-time Olympian and the only USA male weightlifter to qualify for the Rio Olympic Games
  • Kara Lang – 2015 Canadian Soccer Hall of Famer and 2008 Olympic soccer team member
  • Malachi Davis – 2004 Olympic sprinter

By sharing their inspirational stories in the #Switch4Good campaign, these dairy-free Olympians have committed to encouraging and educating others on making the switch from dairy. Now the only question is, what are you waiting for? Don’t you deserve the very best? Don’t wait-change starts today and the best part is, your body and your friends and family will be thanking you for it for many, many years to come. To find out more about how you can make the switch and learn more about how these Olympians improved their health and wellness, be sure to visit   www.Switch4Good.org.where you can hear more about how such a small change made such a huge difference in the lives of these Olympians.
