UPDATED INFO-POST Hurricane Irma- Walt Disney World To Open September 12!

Walt Disney World® Resort Theme Parks and Disney Springs® will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 with normal, advertised operating hours. Special events, such as Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, will also take place. Water Parks will remain closed tomorrow and will reopen later this week.
Magic Kingdom® Park – 9:00am-7:00pm, with an added Extra Magic Hour beginning at 8:00am for Resort Guests who weathered the storm with us All Disney Resorts will begin normal operation Sept. 12, 2017 with the exception of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas. Disney’s Fort Wilderness Campground will remain closed at this time while assessments to the property are completed. To allow Disney’s Fort Wilderness to prepare the property after Hurricane Irma, all shows at The Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue and Mickey’s Backyard BBQ will be cancelled Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017. Any existing reservations will be automatically cancelled and refunded. Disney’s Saratoga Springs Treehouse Villas are scheduled to re-open on Thursday, Sept. 14, 2017. Disney’s Vero Beach and Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resorts will remain closed at this time. Guest Transportation will be available beginning Tuesday morning, Sept.12, 2017. On Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, the only select restaurants at Disney Resort hotels are open for Disney Resort Guests. We are not taking reservations for Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, any existing reservations have been cancelled, and any prepaid dining and premium experiences will be automatically cancelled and/or refunded. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Guests staying at our Disney Resorts should refer to information within their resort for available dining options today. Disney Reservation Center will resume operations Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017. Here is the latest information from the Orlando area:
The Orlando area took a direct hit from Hurricane Irma last night with the eyewall actually passing over Walt Disney World Resort. Here is some of the damage being reported in the area:
- Animal Kingdom – lots of trees down, debris
- Epcot – trees down and flooding
- Disney’s All Star Resorts – several trees down
- Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – flooding in the lobby area, trees down
- Disney’s Art of Animation – trees down
- Disney’s Beach Club – tree debris
- Disney’s Boardwalk – tree limbs down, debris
- Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort – tree down, debris
- Disney’s Contemporary Resort – 90mph wind speeds recorded and transformers exploded near the resort, some trees down
- Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – leaky roofs
- Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort – large trees downed, some longhouse roof damage
- Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter – main building closed due to flooding, several downed trees, lots of tree debris, some pool fencing and light fixtures down
- Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside – large trees down and uprooted
- Disney’s Saratoga Springs – trees down, lots of debris
- Disney’s Wilderness Lodge – large pine tree down blocking bus entrance, trees down in parking lot

Walt Disney World was closed yesterday and remains closed today, September 11. The resort anticipates to operate as normal on Tuesday, September 12, 2017.
SPECIAL EVENT UPDATES
In anticipation of inclement weather associated with Hurricane Irma, please note the following event cancellations at Walt Disney World Resort.
- Night of Joy at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex had been canceled on Saturday, September 9, 2017. The performances on Friday, September 8 took place as planned.
- Requests for a full refund for either event night will be honored.
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party had been canceled on Sunday, September 10, 2017. Guests are invited to exchange their Sunday, September 10 event tickets for one of the following options:
- Tickets to attend another Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party
- Tickets to attend an upcoming Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party
- 1 Day Magic Your Way Tickets with Park Hopper Option, to be used within the next 2 years
- Receive a full refund for event tickets

Orlando International Airport
Orlando International Airport is still closed and has released the following update:
As of 8:30 a.m. 11 September 2017 – Orlando International Airport (MCO) is NOT operational. Please notify your viewers/ listeners/ readers that they SHOULD NOT COME TO THE AIRPORT until we notify the media that the airport is resuming operations. Continued gusty winds are delaying damage assessment teams from beginning the recovery process.
AIRPORT STATUS: Damage assessment teams are standing by waiting for sustained winds to decrease to a safe level to ascertain what kind of damage the airport has sustained so that the recovery process can begin. Once the recovery process has restored the facilities to a safe operational status, The Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA) will meet with the airlines to determine a timeline to phase-in operations. This process could take several days.
Travelers are urged to contact their airlines and confirm their new seats before arriving at MCO.
DINING UPDATES
New dining reservations for September 10 and 11 are not available at this time as we monitor progress of Hurricane Irma. Effective immediately, we will not be enforcing dining reservation cancellation policies so no need to cancel dining reservations through Monday, September 11.
Pre-paid dining and premium experiences will be automatically canceled and refunded.
DISNEY RESERVATION CENTER
Due to prolonged forecast of Hurricane Irma, Disney Reservation Center will remain closed through Monday, September 11. We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and plan to resume operation asquickly as possible following the storm.
Tropical Weather Update From Disney Cruise Line
September 11, 2017:
Please note the Disney Cruise Line Contact Center is currently closed due to the anticipated weather conditions associated with Hurricane Irma in Central Florida.
Based on the projected path of Hurricane Irma, Disney Cruise Line is making the following adjustments to itineraries:
Disney Dream: The September 11 sailing of the Disney Dream is cancelled. Refunds will automatically be processed back to the original form of payment used for the cruise booking. Guests are invited to book a future cruise at a 25 percent discount by calling us at 1-855-347-2784 or 407-566-7054 from September 18, 2017, through October 18, 2017.
Future Bahamian and Eastern Caribbean Sailings: At this time, there are no changes to other sailings on the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. However, we continue to closely monitor Hurricane Irma and assess its impact on the ports of call we visit in the Caribbean and Bahamas. Updates regarding any necessary itinerary changes will be posted beginning September 12. While we always strive to deliver magical cruise vacations, nothing is more important to us than providing a safe experience for our guests and crew. We will continue to closely monitor the weather and provide updates as necessary.
Our thoughts and prayers are with each and every family affected by Hurricane Irma and over the last few weeks by Hurricane Harvey. Based on the latest forecasts for Hurricane Irma and keeping safety top of mind, Walt Disney World Resort will be closed Sunday, September 10 and Monday, September 11:
Resort hotels will remain open, though services and amenities will be adjusted. We hope to resume normal operations on Tuesday, September 12. We will provide regular updates to our guests on all operational changes. Please continue to check this page for updates. Walt Disney World Theme Parks, Disney Springs, Water Parks, and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex are making the following operational changes:

• Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon: Closing early on Saturday, September 9 at 5 PM – Monday, September 11

To ensure the safety of their guests, ambassadors and animals during the expected impact from Hurricane Irma, SeaWorld Orlando, Aquatica Orlando, Discovery Cove, Busch Gardens Tampa Bay and Adventure Island will be adjusting schedules as follows:
SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens Tampa Bay are currently planning to close by 5 pm ET on Saturday, Sept. 9, pending further updates as we monitor the storm. Both parks will remain closed on Sunday, Sept. 10 and Monday, Sept. 11. Aquatica Orlando and Adventure Island will be closed on Saturday, Sept. 9, through Monday, Sept. 11. Discovery Cove will be closed on Sunday, Sept. 10 and Monday, Sept. 11. Please check the park hours for the full September schedule.
Sea World has comprehensive weather preparedness plans, and security and zoological staff will remain on property in secure locations as we monitor the storm. They are also providing support and temporary housing for animals from other zoological facilities in coastal areas expected to have greater impact.
