Given the latest projections, the theme parks and water parks will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29. Disney Springs will be closed on Wednesday, Sept. 28. Disney anticipates Disney Springs will be closed on Thursday, Sept. 29, and they will provide updates as they continue to track the storm. Walt Disney World is monitoring weather conditions so they can make timely decisions for the safety of their Cast and Guests, including when it’s safe to return to the Walt Disney World.

With safety at the forefront, here are the latest updates regarding Hurricane Ian , Walt Disney World Resort, and airport closures. Disney is closely monitoring the progress of the storm and is making operational adjustments as needed because nothing is more important than the safety of their Guests and Cast Members. Walt Disney World Resort is currently operating under normal conditions as they prepare to make necessary adjustments based on the latest information from the National Weather Service. Disney will continue to put the safety of its Cast Members and Guests first and will share updates with you as they monitor Hurricane Ian.

Walt Disney World Resorts

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa, and the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will temporarily close Wednesday, Sept. 28 through Friday, Sept. 30 due to the weather. Disney is in the process of contacting Guests with current and upcoming reservations.
 

Walt Disney World Theme Parks and Water Parks

UPDATE- Walt Disney World theme parks are currently operating under normal conditions but will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday. We will continue to monitor and update.

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will close temporarily Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29. (Disney’s Blizzard Beach is currently closed).

Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will also temporarily close Wednesday, Sept. 28, and Thursday, Sept. 29.


Dining, Enchanting Extras, and Special Events

Effective immediately, Walt Disney World will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences like Savi’s Workshop and Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique.

Performances of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue have been canceled from Sept. 28-30 in light of the temporary closure of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Guests with pre-paid reservations will be automatically canceled and refunded.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party- Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom has been cancelled for Thursday, Sept. 29.


Disney Springs

Disney Springs is currently operating under normal conditions but will be closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

Disney Resort and Room-Only Cancellation Policy for Reservations Booked Directly with Disney Destinations, LLC or The Walt Disney Travel Company.

  • Due to potential weather impacts on guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Monday, 9/26 – Tuesday, 10/4.
  • Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or canceled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or canceled online. For Guests with these reservations, please call Disney or your travel agent for assistance.

UPDATE-Resort Guests-

Walt Disney World asked all resort hotel guests who remain at the properties to shelter in place for the duration of the impact of Hurricane Ian, the still-significant remnants of which are expected to begin hitting the area in earnest Wednesday evening. Earlier in the day, it was announced that the resort’s parks would be closed Wednesday through Friday.

“For the safety of our Guests and Cast Members, all Guests including our Disney Vacation Club Members must check in to our resorts on Sept. 28, by 3 p.m.,” reads a statement posted on the resort’s weather updates page.

“Guests that are checked in by 3 p.m. Wednesday will be asked to shelter in place at their resort for the duration of the storm,” it continues.  “Guests are strongly encouraged to enjoy food and beverage offerings at the parks and Disney Springs before returning to their Resort hotels. Dining options for Guests staying in our Resort hotels will vary, and in some cases may be very limited.”

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser voyages departing Tuesday, Sept. 27, and Thursday, Sept. 29 have been cancelled due to the potential impact on the Guest experience. Guests with reservations for these dates are asked to please call (407) 939-5209 for help with modifying their plans.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 28 and Thursday, Sept. 29.

Disney Cruise Line  – Tropical Weather Update View Important Details 

Disney Cruise Line UPDATES-Disney Wish Sailing Cancelled 

The Disney Cruise line has been closely monitoring Hurricane Ianwith the safety and well-being of their Guests and Crew Members always top of mind. Due to the weather conditions from Hurricane Ian that are most recentlyforecasted for Port Canaveral and Central Floridaand the impact that it might have on port operations, theSeptember 30, 2022, sailing oftheDisney Wishhas been cancelled. 

Transportation

  • Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Tuesday night after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
  • Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World resort Guests with existing breakfast reservations.

Orlando International Airport

Orlando International Airport will be closing on Wednesday, September 28 at 10:30 am.
