6 Easy Tips To Help You Pack the Smart Way for Your Next Trip
Traveling just got a lot easier with these 6 easy tips to help you pack the smart way for your next trip. No matter how long your trip is, you need to pack, and you need to pack smart, especially this time of year. I was the ultimate when it came to overpacking. Even if I was just heading out for a quick overnight trip, my suitcase was always filled to the brim and then some. But this year I made the conscious decision to start packing smarter and now not only is packing and traveling easier, I always have exactly what I need no matter what the destination and how long the trip is. So how do you pack smart?
1.Pack by Outfit
When you’re packing for your trip pack by outfits according to what activities you may participate, and the weather expected. You can layout your outfits before you pack so you know what you’ve got to work with.
2. Only Bring Items You Can Wear in More Ways Than One
When choosing your outfits, choose clothes that are in the same color family that way you can mix and match for different outfits. This goes for shirts, pants, and shoes. tee-shirts in neutral colors will go with any color scheme you have going.
3.Roll Your Clothes
When you are placing your clothes in the suitcase you can save more space by rolling them. The secret to this is to fold your shirts/pants/etc. in half longways, then roll up like a burrito. This also helps keep them from wrinkling.
Items like scarves and neckties can be rolled around an empty toilet paper roll to help keep them from getting wrinkled.
4. Use Protective Bags
Pack anything that is liquid or gel in a Ziplock bag. You may not think that something will leak, but there is always that chance and you don’t want to ruin any of the other items in the suitcase.
Shoes can be packed in plastic grocery bags or you can place shower caps on the bottoms to keep them from getting your clothes dirty.
5.Packing Aids and Other Hacks
Things like packing cubes and compression sacs can help you save space and stay organized easily. With compression sacs, you can shrivel your clothes into a vacuum-packed tight bundle that saves space in your suitcase. These are also a great way to keep your outfits organized. Jewelry can be organized into pill cases for protective storage and organization.
Sunglass cases can double as storage for cords and chargers, so they don’t get tangled up with the rest of the luggage. Balled-up pairs of socks or smaller items can be stored in your shoes to save space.
6. Remember the 3-1-1 Rule When Flying
Remember the TSA’s 3-1-1 rule about liquids and be sure not to bring full-size bottles of shampoos, gels, or liquids. Liquids, aerosols, and gels you carry on the plane must be in containers of 3.4 ounces or less and must fit in one 1-quart-sized bag.
You can cut back on these types of toiletries and use the ones provided by the hotel or you can swap out your originals to travel-friendly ones to make it even easier.
Always check out the TSA website before you go to make sure you have the right information on the 3-1-1 rule and any size requirements so you can avoid any hassles at the airport.
