Whether you’re looking for the perfect car for your weekend adventures or that versatile family car with the feel and look of a smaller car but the capabilities of larger one, look no further than the all-new 2017 VW Golf Alltrack. With Seattle being known for everything from the latest in technology to the great out of doors and beyond, what better place to test out the Golf Alltrack for myself and recently I had the chance to visit one of the cities that has come to be known as a premier destination for arts, entertainment and leisure activities and discovered that it’s everything you’ve come to expect from Volkswagen and more.
Our home away from home for the weekend was the beautiful Kimpton Palladian boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Seattle. An edgy hotel where the past meets the future, and originally built in 1910, this luxurious hotel boasts an iconic mix of the best in high-end amenities with a design that is vintage in its looks and feels.
Located near the Waterfront and two blocks from Seattle’s world famous Pike Place Market, the Kimpton Palladian Hotel is everything you could want in a hotel whether you’re visiting Seattle for a romantic weekend, or in town on business or a little of both.It also was short walk to the Seattle Ferry that would take us to Bainbridge Island, which was the perfect location to put the Alltrack through its paces for an all day test drive.
From the moment we got behind the wheel of the Golf Alltrack, you immediately knew that this is a car that is safe, durable while at the same time being fun to drive. It didn’t seem to matter what terrain we were driving on, from the streets, to the wide open highway to the dirt back roads, this sporty crossover is the perfect vehicle if you want more than a compact wagon but don’t quite need a SUV all while retaining an ease of handling and a spaciousness and comfort of a larger vehicle. The Alltrack is that one car that can take care of you and your family no matter what your needs happen to be.
Lets take a closer look VW Golf Alltrack:
It’s Fun To Drive:
Whether on the streets of the city, or out in the country, or traversing dirt roads, first and foremost this was a fun car to drive. The responsiveness of the engine was immediate no matter which one of the various driving modes we were putting through their paces.
Whether it was comfort, sport, individual, or off-road, the car switched between all of them seamlessly without ever once seeming to be overburdened. And even after being in the car the entire day the Alltrack proved to be comfortable whether you were trying it from the front seat, or a passenger relaxing in the back with legroom to spare.
High Tech At It’s Best:
The Alltrack is ready for you to attach your phone and go thanks to its VW Car-Net® App-Connect, which allows you to link your compatible smartphone and access select apps on the touchscreen display of the dashboard of the vehicle. Whether your in need of your mobile maps, want to stream your music or the ease that using your voice to get in touch with your contacts or messaging all while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road, it was all easily controlled. The available keyless access lets you lock, unlock, start, and drive your car without ever having to take your keys out of your pocket. Simply press the brake and push the start button, and your engine’s running and ready for action. It’s perfect for those days when your hands are full or it’s late at night and you don’t want to go rummaging through the bottom of your bag to find the car keys.
Room To Spare:
Whether you’re heading out for a weekend of adventure complete with bikes and kayaks, or just going through the tasks of daily life with the kids and all their gear, the roominess of the Golf Alltrack means plenty of room for anything and everything you could imagine.
Thanks to the 60/40-split folding rear seats gives you the ability to configure your space to make the most of the cargo area and fit all of your gear with ease.
Comfort and Design of a Luxury Car:
From the moment you sit down inside of the VW Golf Alltrack you have the feeling of being in a high-end car. From the leather interior both in the seats and on the steering wheel to the design that is driver-focused that puts everything within easy reach it’s clear to see why drivers keep coming back for more. The European design means a car that is comfortable yet sporty all rolled into one. The Panoramic Sunroof means that you can bring the sunshine of the day right into the car.
Safety First:
Over the years VW has come to be synonymous with safety and the Golf Alltrack is no exception. Every Golf is equipped with an Intelligent Crash Response System (ICRS) and a rigid safety cage and includes the Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, which means it can help bring your car to a stop after a collision, helping to reduce the chance of any additional impacts. In addition, the available Forward Collision Warning system has sensors in the front to help monitor traffic and can alert you to a potential collision with the vehicle ahead and if a collision is imminent, Autonomous Emergency Braking which can also help the car to brake. The rearview camera allows you to perfectly back into those hard to fit in parking spaces as well as see obstacles when backing up. I have to say, when I got back into my 10-year-old car, it was the feature I missed the most.
