After following closely to the reopening of Shanghai Disneyland, Walt Disney World is gradually and carefully putting their safety procedures into place as the world eases into a new phase of life.
Phase One includes all third party stores and restaurants at Disney Springs with many of the Disney owned properties set to reopen next week on Wednesday, May 27. With Memorial Day Weekend and summer upon us, Disney fans far and wide are anxiously awaiting the announces of just when the Disney Parks will be welcoming back guests but for now, let the shopping and dining begin. Disney Springs is reopened and here’s everything you need to know before you go.
Disney began the phased reopening of the Disney Springs dining and shopping district with new restrictions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While Disney World’s theme parks and hotels remain closed, the company calls the Disney Springs’ Wednesday reopening a “welcome milestone.”
Guests will notice some changes at the Orlando-area complex, which implemented a number of health and safety measures based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other health authorities. For example, all Cast Members and guests over the age of three must wear face coverings, and everyone must undergo temperature screenings. Disney Springs will also limit the number of guests visiting the property, as well as within each location. The district even installed barriers in some areas where it’s difficult to maintain physical distancing.
“We’ve got an incredible group of Cast Members here circulating throughout the property to assist [guests] in this way. It’s a really exciting time here,” Disney Springs vice president Matt Simon. It’s an encouraging first step for Disney fans who are counting the days for the resort to fully reopen after shutting down in mid-March because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Starting at 10 a.m. today, numerous third-party shops not directly connected with Disney will open their doors. The complex will be open until 10 p.m. Not all stores and restaurants in the complex will be open, and they might have adjusted their usual hours of operation.
On May 27, Disney-owned shops such as the World of Disney which features all manner of souvenirs, the Marketplace Co-op and D-Luxe Burger, which will offer mobile ordering.
