7 Reasons Why To Stay At A Walt Disney World Value Resort

Looking for affordable places to stay? We have 7 reasons why to stay at a Walt Disney World Value Resort. From the fun theming to the family feel to a price your wallet will thank you for if you’re heading to Walt Disney World and budget-friendly tops the list, look no further than the Value Resorts of the Walt Disney World Resort. First, don’t let the word “value” fool you because you will quickly discover that the price tag may be lower, but Disney’s attention to detail is prominent throughout.
I had the chance to experience several of these resorts on my last spur of the moment trip to Walt Disney World a few weeks ago with stays at both Disney’s All-Star Music Resort and Disney’s Pop Century Resort and here’s our top 7 reasons why to stay at a Walt Disney World Value Resort.
It’s All In The Theming
Part of the Disney difference is the feel you get from the distinctive and unique theming of not just these but every resort you’ll encounter at the Walt Disney World Resort. For me the moment I set foot onto Disney’s Pop Century Resort I was transported back to my childhood. There are the toys of my childhood and the feeling of nostalgia sweeps you away and there before my eyes larger than life were the fads of the 1950s through the 1990s all over again. From yo-yos and Play-Doh® to Rubik’s Cube® and rollerblades, this Resort hotel salutes the timeless fashions, catch phrases, toys and dances that captivated the world through the decades.
Over at Disney’s All-Star Music Resort, I was humming all of my favorite tunes from Disney movies and Broadway as soon as I checked in. If you are a music lover, this is the destination for you with a hotel that pays homage to some of the world’s most popular music genres, including country, jazz, rock ‘n’ roll, calypso and Broadway-style show tunes. Large-sized, music-inspired icons outside and subtle song-and dance surprises inside provide a harmonious setting for music lovers of all ages.
Your Home Away From Home:
Although the rooms are slightly smaller than the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts, they are just the place to rest your head at night and change your clothes. The size for me worked out fine, especially in that I was on my own on this trip. Both came equipped with:
- Two double beds
- Free Wireless Internet (WiFi)
- Flat-panel TV
- Mini-fridge
- Ironing board and iron
- Hair dryer
- Digital thermostat
- In-room safe
- H2O-brand toiletry products
As with the moderate resorts, the sink area and the bathroom and tub area are separate and the dressing area has a curtain that can be pulled to allow for some privacy. There are also family suite options available for larger families. One thing I learned the hard way was while a preferred room location may seem like a good idea when you book it due to close proximately to the food court and transportation, my room also happened to be on the first floor directly next to the pool at the Pop which meant no sleep for most of the night. If you’re traveling with a family or a sport team that will be in and out of the pool all day-it’s the perfect choice. If you just want to relax, I learned by the time I checked into the All Star Music to request a room on the top floor away from all of the action. The easy walk was worth the good night’s sleep.
Get Into The Swim Of Things:
All of the Value resorts have several pools throughout the property each with their own distinct style. At the All Star Music it was all about keeping the beat with a pool shaped like a guitar with a whimsical fountain of the Three Caballeros—Donald Duck, José Carioca and Panchito—playfully spraying water at swimmers. For the little ones, a kiddie pool is located nearby. In other areas you could find the Piano Pool, a grand piano-shaped watering hole featuring a deck of black and white keys available for families looking to play it cool throughout the day.
The Pop calls you to take a splash from the past with this trio of themed swimming pools celebrating 3 unforgettable decades including the Hippy Dippy Pool home to far-out flower-shaped water jets and a lazy 1960’s attitude, the Bowling Pool which Celebrates the 1950s at this 144,352-gallon pool shaped like a bowling pin and the Computer Pool which takes you for a dip in this 1990s-themed, computer-shaped pool that includes a giant floppy disc and keypad.
Family Outdoor Fun:
Like all Disney properties, the value resorts are designed with the family in mind and sometimes your family just needs a place to unwind.
In addition to the pools you will find Jogging Trails around the resort for your morning or evening walk or jog to the Playgrounds for the kids where they can climb, slide and play to their heart’s content, Arcades located adjacent to the food courts where you can fine-tune your gaming skills to ending your evening with a relaxing Movie Under The Stars, there’s something for every age and every member of your family.
Never Go Hungry:
Whether you’re looking to start out the day with a hearty breakfast, or top it off after a long day in the Parks with Pizza delivered right to the room, the Food Courts at both kept me fed and full. The Intermission at the All-Star Music offered up expansive music-themed foods featuring a variety of serving stations plus a deli-style market.
Burgers, sandwiches, pasta and other among goodies were also readily available. At the Pop Century it was all about favorites like waffles, pasta, flatbread and salads in one of the 7 food stations.
Plus the best part, both offered In-Room pizza delivery, always a plus at the end of a long day. With refrigerators in the rooms, it was easy to stock up the night before with cereal, milk and fruit for breakfast the next day, or my favorite, cold pizza.
Shopping Time:
Just like all of the Walt Disney World Resorts, the Value Resorts come complete with their own gift shops where you can purchase anything you need on your Disney vacation, including sunscreen, clothing, souvenirs, over the counter medicines, shoes, strollers, suitcases, food, alcohol and other beverages, and more so no more worries in case you forgot to bring something with you or you’re caught unprepared for the afternoon Florida rain showers. Plus they are conveniently located right next to the food courts. Even better, if you’re shopping in the Parks, you can arrange to have park souvenirs delivered to Maestro Mickey’s or Everything Pop instead of carrying them around with you all day.
