every morning against the rising sun, which makes for a pretty scene and  Punta Sam is right on the beach at the resort which gives you quick and easy access to the ferry to Isla Mujeres. Taking the ferry is one of the most popular excursions for guests, as is exploring Isla Mujeres, which offers great snorkeling and several beautiful beaches, including the famous Playa Norte.

exclusively for elite guests. Pools are quiet, even when there are organized activities going on. Not once did the pools or the beach ever have a crowded feel to them and more often than not, it was almost as though you had the entire space to yourself thanks to the spacious design and layout.

On a family getaway- no need to worry because there’s a  kids’ club with its own splash pool. There is also a full array of

water sports include kayaking, paddle boarding, and snorkeling. Nightly entertainment is provided, often live bands or occasionally acts such as a magician performance, and resort activities are ready and waiting just for you and include everything from tequila tastings, Pilates, cooking lessons, and face painting for kids just to name a few of the options.

For those wanting to stay in shape and workout while they are there, the gym is large and offers a full variety of modern equipment. Water, towels, and flat-screen TVs are provided. If you’re looking for the ultimate in relaxation, the Village Spa offers eight different treatment rooms set in a tropical garden environment. The theming is modeled after the

ancient Mayan village and there are a whirlpool, steam room, and hot/cold lagoon. You can book massages, facials, nail treatments, and healing Mayan rituals. Parents will be happy to know that babysitting is available for a small fee and of

course for slightly older children the kids’ club with computers, crafts, and games. Parents can leave their children ages 4 to 10 there on their own.  It’s the perfect combination of a family vacation but still allows for some quality and much-needed alone time for the adults.

The wide range of room choices means that whether you’re traveling on your own, for a couples getaway or friend escape, or on that much-needed family vacation, you’re sure to find something that is perfect for you. There are three

main room categories: Deluxe Rooms, One-Bedroom Suites, and Two-Bedroom Suites. The Deluxe Rooms are 538 square feet and have wet bars; upgrading to the One-Bedroom Suite will nearly double your space, and also include a dining space and full-size kitchen. Both fit a maximum of four guests, while Two-Bedroom Suites can fit six. Those looking to splurge may want to consider one of the Residences, which have one- to three-bedroom options and extras such as butler service. Because I was traveling on my own, I chose the Cancun Hotel Suite and it did not disappoint.

My room was elegant,  with spectacular views, oversized balconies adorned with hammocks, and spacious interiors decorated with modern-chic design, which I must admit, made it very hard to leave at the end of my stay. I could have stayed in my hammock forever and been perfectly happy. All of the rooms at the Villa del Palmar feature hardwood trim, modern furniture, and granite surfaces. Bed runners and pillows which can range from a sophisticated neutral to a sometimes more colorful look, are elegant against dark-wood headboards. Even the standard rooms include fully

stocked wet bars that provided with no additional charge and the rooms are also equipped with microwaves, coffeemakers with a wide variety of coffee and teas as well as mini-fridges, and fully stocked cabinets with plates and eating utensils as well as a sink. There is a  great market right on sight which carries everything imaginable and more.

On the digital front, there are flat-screen TVs and electronic safes. Unlike many of the resorts, the WIFI comes with no

additional cost. The bathrooms feature more granite, along with marble tiling. My particular room featured shower/tub combos, while the rest of the suites have walk-in showers with benches. Every room at the Villa del Palmar offers either terraces or balconies with hammocks. Make sure to request a higher level floor as it is from these rooms that you are

treated to an unparalleled ocean view. Close your eyes and imagine yourself sitting on your balcony eating breakfast to start the day or lounging in your hammock as the sun goes down. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

At the Villa del Palmar you’ll never go hungry. There are six restaurants, plus there’s a local market on the front side of the resort that sells almost everything and even has a Starbucks. Two additional snack bars are available, as well as

three cocktail bars -one is a tequila bar, located at the Mexican restaurant, one is a lobby bar with a happy hour, and one is located at the Mediterranean restaurant. I highly recommend booking the all-inclusive package when you book your stay, which includes meals and standard alcohol and wines. Reservations are not required for any of the restaurants but there may be dress codes at some of the more upscale eateries and again, there is also a 24-hour room service option for those times when you prefer to eat from the comfort of your room.
