Then get ready for the voyage of your life because on May 26 the wait is finally over as Cap’n Jack is back and he’s bringing all of his scurvy but lovable crew with him as Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales takes to the high seas and sails into a theater near you.
First a recap of where we last we left everyone’s favorite swashbuckling pirate, Captain Jack Sparrow, at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Jack & Angelica had admitted their love for each other, but due to trust issues, he leaves his beloved stranded on a cay.
Meanwhile, wielding Blackbeard’s magical sword, Barbossa captains the Queen Anne’s Revenge and returns to piracy. Luckily, our clever Captain Jack is once again able to locate first mate Joshamee Gibbs, who has managed to use the compass to locate the Revenge and the illustrious Captain Sparrow reclaims the shrunken Black Pearl and the other conquered ships in bottles, last seen carrying them off in a gunny sack, because how else would you carry shrunken pirate ships and our two dubious heroes are off, hoping to revert the Black Pearl to its original size. But wait, as the credits roll, and come to an end suddenly a voodoo doll of Jack crafted by Blackbeard washes ashore and is found by Angelica, who then smiles and we know, that this there is more on the horizon for us all.
Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
The rip-roaring adventure finds down-on-his-luck Captain Jack feeling the winds of ill-fortune blowing strongly his way when deadly ghost sailors, led by the terrifying Captain Salazer (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle bent on killing every pirate at sea – notably Jack. Jack’s only hope of survival lies in the legendary Trident of Poseidon, but to find it he must forge an uneasy alliance with Carina Smyth (Kaya Scodelario), a brilliant and beautiful astronomer, and Henry (Brenton Thwaites), a headstrong young sailor in the Royal Navy.
At the helm of the Dying Gull, his pitifully small and shabby ship, Captain Jack seeks not only to reverse his recent spate of ill fortune, but to save his very life from the most formidable and malicious foe he has never faced.
And just who is it that will be at Sparrow’s side helping him to navigate these most treacherous of waters? None other than Will Turner himself as seen in this clip which not only hints of Turner’s return, but as too a family reunion. Will was last seen when his character assumed command of the Flying Dutchman at the end of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End and was cursed to ferry dead souls to the afterlife, only able to step food on land for one day every ten years. And little 9 year old Henry Turner, who last we saw awaiting the return of his father on a beach with mom Elizabeth, is now all grown up and ready to continue the family legacy.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, and stars Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, Orlando Bloom, Geoffrey Rush, Kaya Scodelario, David Wenham, Brenton Thwaites, Golshifteh Farahani, Stephen Graham, Goran D. Kleut, Kevin McNally, Jessica Green, Martin Klebba, and Nico Cortez.
Batten down the hatches and get ready as Johnny Depp returns to the big screen as the iconic, swashbuckling anti-hero Jack Sparrow in the all-new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sailing into theaters everywhere May 26, 2017.
